Chemicals & Artificial Grass
Below is an extract from a letter to an artificial grass customer who enquired about what products are safe to use on/near their artificial grass lawn.
Dear Mr. Robinson, Further to your telephone call to our Technical Department about which products are safe to use on artificial grass, here are our recommended guidelines. Generally speaking, you should not use any product that is acidic in nature ie. pH less than 3 containing Halogens (chlorine, bromine etc). Sulphur and Nitrogen are also likely to react. Likewise if a product is oxidising, like bleach or peroxide then this can liberate free ions of the above elements which can then form acidic species in the presence of water. Accordingly, this means: - All products that are classed as "non-acidic" and "non-oxidising" should be OK - Anything containing "Halogens", "Acids" or " Sulphur" are unsuitable! - Pesticides and weed killers should be pH neutral - Most detergents should be OK The following weed killers are absolutely unsuitable: 24D growth hormone type, Paraquat, lawn-sand The following weed killers may be used: Simazine, Gesapo, Round-up We trust this answers your query but if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us again. Yours sincerely, Artificial Grass Limited |
