Artificial Grass FAQ

What maintenance is required?
Very little indeed. You need to remove any debris which falls onto the grass - a leaf rake or garden broom will remove any debris as well as helping realign the fibres and , if you have chosen artificial grass with infill, then it will smooth this at the same time. As the artificial grass is permeable, any rain water will run through the infill and clean it at the same time.

How will our pets react to the artificial grass?
Your pets should be fine. Any droppings are easy to remove or wash away. Pets tend to treat artificial grass just like normal grass except they can't dig up the lawn anymore! If you have very heavy use from pets, such as in a kennels, then we can recommend disinfectant which will help remove the smell and kill any bacteria. However this action is rarely needed for normal domestic use. We should also point out that long pile artificial grass as well as sand filled artificial grass is generally better for pets.

Can I grow trees and shrubs later on?
Yes. It is quite easy to cut out a section of artificial grass to accommodate a new garden layout.

Does the grass have a directional pile?
Yes, it will need to be matched when you install it.

What can we use for edging?
Exactly what you would use for natural grass. A log roll is a good example.

What holds down the artificial grass?
The infill is the main weight holding down artificial grass. For non infill artificial grass more care has to be taken and it is possible that areas will need to be pegged down. The use of edgings is also important.

Can I install artificial grass on a slope?
Yes but care is needed when deciding on the use. We do not recommend a slope of greater than 15% if the grass is going to be walked on. Over 15% is possible for ornamental coverings. Care is also needed if you install an artificial grass with infill as the sand can, over time, move down the slope. An alternative solution is to use pins to secure the artificial grass.

How easy is it to cut and shape artificial grass?
Very easy. It is just like cutting a carpet. A Stanley knife is a good choice, alternatively a large pair of sharp scissors.
