Artificial Grass FAQ
What are the applications when artificial grass can be used?
Lawns and landscaping are the most common uses. Sports playing surfaces are also very popular from tennis courts to putting greens to soccer pitches - our sister company SIS has installed artificial grass for many large football clubs in the UK and Europe.
There are many other uses, for instance:
1. Roof gardens
2. Patios
3. Swimming pool surrounds
4. Children's play areas
5. Pet friendly areas, dog exercise runs, kennels
6. Conservatories
7. Garages
8. Exhibitions
9. Shopping Centres
10. Showrooms - cars, garden centres, etc
We have a dedicated section on the applications of artificial grass where you will find lots more information.
How do I join the artificial grass together?
Special, fibreglass tape and glue is the answer, all of which we can supply as part of your order. The glue is applied to the tape and then the edges of the artificial grass are pressed on top.
How will I cope with the part of the garden which is always wet?
This should not be a problem. Generally you just need more hardcore or sand to build up the surface.
With a lot of use will the grass matt or flatten?
We can discuss the uses to ensure that the right type of grass is installed. A texturised or curled yarn in the artificial grass can help prevent matting.
What is it like to walk on?
Artificial grass is soft and springy. The infill will provide more bounce than natural grass. In extreme heat the artificial grass will be noticeably hotter.
Can I use artificial grass beside a swimming pool?
Yes. However we would generally recommend at least 3 feet between the pool and the artificial grass. This will minimise the risk of discoloration from the chlorine in the pool.
Can we play football on the artificial grass?
Definitely. Our sister company SIS has installed artificial grass for major football teams throughout the UK and Europe and as long as you remember the rules around the type of studs which are allowed then you can enjoy many hours of play.
Why is sand infill used?
Sand can be a cheaper alternative to rubber and is also chemically inert and fire resistant.
What happens if I spill something like paint on the artificial grass?
Whilst artificial grass is made of non absorbing materials paint does not just wipe off. You can contact our technical department for advice in this regard.
